I’ve written a series of posts for Science-Based Medicine on the deeply political nature of the lab leak COVID-19 origin theory. This was pushed by Trump and his ilk in the early days of the pandemic, and has been promoted by the Heritage Foundation and other political bad actors. Of particular concern is its promotion by the GOP’s deeply problematic House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Last month, EcoHealth Alliance, the organization scapegoated and smeared by the HSSCP, published a rebuttal to the congressional subcommittee. This came on the heels of the publication of a major paper pointing to the zoonotic origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. I wrote about this for today’s Science-Based Medicine post.
If you're going to make such a serious accusation as to blame an organization for a pandemic, you better have undeniable proof to back up those claims. After four years of pushing the lab leak narrative, this proof has not materialized. Unfortunately, that has not stopped the accusations.
